Making the B-Corp community grow

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corp is an inspiring movement Kitewalk aims to be part of soon as we completely subscribe their values. For Kitewalk founders, creating our own company was a way to prove there are real ways to be professionally successful and socially responsible. We share a strong volunteering past and we want to leave a footprint.

During 2017, Kitewalk spent an important time preparing its B Corp certification. One of the clearest things that came out from it is that B Corps must be good at helping to build strong local ecosystems. The weight of the local suppliers and customers community is very big for B Corps, as such we should help B Corps to explore their local ecosystems and leverage them, being active part of them.

Kitewalk is following such local community pattern naturally. More than 80% of both their customers and their suppliers are colocated to the places were Kitewalk workers are based. The problem we have detected is: how do we move beyond that? Whenever we will need to engage a new supplier or prospect a new customer, what tools do we have at our disposal to discover other B Corps around? How to meet them and increase the value of the global B Corp movement leveraging local contacts and communities which share our mindset? How to know who is engaged in a view of the world alike?

The more we think about it, the more we believe that we would love to easily discover B Corps around me. If I was Paul on our Use Cases section video and that I was able to naturally discover, while walking, which B Corps are there around the place where I am located, then that would help me build instant synergies with players with whom I share values. I wouldn't feel alone, I would feel stronger. I would know who to address, and how to build upon what is already built. B Corp network would gain global visibility while creating proximity strengths.

Would it be reasonable to think that a company like Kitewalk could build such a mobile solution to allow humanity discover what the B Corp movement really is on the field and how it progresses ? Oh, yes, it would!

Would it be reasonable that 20% of the benefits that could be made through such solution would be returned to charity associations (plus the remaining 80% allow us to build the jobs our employees deserve, which is our current "pain point" in our B Corp evaluation? Oh yes, it would too!

The B Corp movement will not find elsewhere people more convinced than ourselves that what you guys are building is the only way to go. At Kitewalk we love the view that the Earth does not belong to us, that we borrow it from our children. We'll go the extra mile over and over again on this. We'll do whatever it takes to be proud of our footprints in this life.

We are looking forward to create a solution for B Corps that makes globality reach proximity. In real-time and real-place. In a way that lasts over time (the impact of movies such as Tomorrow gets reduced as time passes by). When do we start?
